5 Day – Adventure Beyond Angkor

Below is a sample itinerary for a five day tour of the Angkor Archaeological Park and Siem Reap. Each Angkor Walkers tour is customized, so please feel free to contact us to discuss your perfect five day itinerary. Day One

ALL DAY: Today tour and itinerary is started with a long drive through Cambodia country scenery to a former capital city KOH KER, the former capital city of Jayavarman IV.

KOH KER is one of the main temple complexes that lost to tropical jungle for many years and recently exposed and opened to some dare adventurers. It is a 10th century temple and capital city known as ” the Island of Glory” that is located 85 kilometers ( 54 miles) northeast of Angkor city. Lunch will be at local clean and nice restaurant

The next stop after a visit to KOH KER, your journey will continue to visit BENG MEALEA  temple, the temple which is still overgrowing by trees and it is believed to be the  model and blueprint of ANGKOR WAT and a visit to OU TMAW DAP that stays next to BENG MEALEA temple where all stones are believed from this quarry were used to build temples throughout the kingdom of Cambodia.

Day Two

MORNING TOUR : The tour will start from a visit to TA PROHM temple with a part of the jungle( Tomb Raider Movie). Then a visit to a famous and magnificent ANGKOR WAT temple. This architectural and religious masterpiece was constructed in the 12the century and stretches over an area of about 210 hectares. Journey will continue to visit South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphoun, Phimeanakas, Royal Palace, Elephant Terrace, Leper King Terrace. Lunch will be at local clean and nice restaurants.

AFTERNOON TOUR : Exploring Siem Reap town with a visit to local markets, souvenir shops, Artisan D’ Angkor, a visit to Cambodian Cultural Village, Angkor National Museum and a chance to get Cambodian traditional massage.

Day Three

This morning the tour will start with a departure to the north of Siem Reap heading toward KBAL SPEAN waterfall where you can see the ancient carvings of a thousand Lingas and different Gods under the riverbed. After trekking up the KBAL SPEAN waterfall, if you are   interested in seeing different Cambodian wildlife ACCB, Wildlife Conservation Center, is going to be our next stop.

AFTERNOON TOUR: After lunch there will be a visit to BANTEAY SREY temple, the citadel of woman. The jewel indisputable of Khmer Art with its hard and pink sandstone. Wonderfully sculpted, perfectly preserved and restored. The journey will continue to visit LANDMINE MUSEUM to learn the recent history of Khmer Rouge and Cambodian civil war.

Day Four

The authentic Cambodian silk products and handicraft that you should not miss while you are in  Cambodia. The morning tour will be a visit to SILK FARM, to learn how silk is being made and a visit to Cambodian resurviving art school after Angkor empire, the Artisan D’ Angkor and then OLD MARKET that stays next to the art school.

AFTERNOON TOUR: It is the opposite scene of the Angkor temples, Tonle Sap Lake with all the floating villages. Taking a private boat cruise to visit Tonle Sap Lake and explore the amazing settings of floating villages to learn and experience the lives on the floating communities with floating schools, floating hospitals, floating houses and floating basketball course.

Day Five

ALL DAY: Leaving Siem Reap at around 05:00am or 06:00am for a famous and ancient 10th century hilltop temple, PREAH VIHEAR, one of the wonder of the world and it has recently become the world heritage site under the protection of UNESCO and Cambodian government. It is located in Preah Vihear province.

After visiting PREAH VIHEAR temple, ALONG VENG will be the next destination of  our exploration. ALONG VENG is the former last stronghold of Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot. There you could visit their former military base, TA MOK stupa, POL POT‘s grave and drive up to the top of Deng Rek mountain range and look back over Cambodia lower plain.
